From classic, vintage blades, to more modern edges, we hone all with the same care, mastery, and attention to detail. Our expert Honemeister has extensive experience in using both synthetic and natural hones to achieve the sharpest, smoothest edges.
Natural HonesFor £45 you can order a natural progression that uses up to six different Nagura stones performed on a Nakayama Maruka, Shoubudani Asagi or Ozuku Karasu. This Nagura progression starts with a Tsushima or Botan and is followed through with Tenjou, Mejiro, Koma and Tomo. Each Nagura stone will be used to make a slurry on the base stone (Nakayama / Shoubudani / Ozuku). This slurry is then worked, thinned, diluted and repeated until the Honemeister feels it is time for the next Nagura stone slurry. Eventually finishing with a Tomo Nagura which is carefully selected by the Honemeister, depending on the qualities of the steel. This progression is time-consuming but leads to longer-lasting edges that are extremely sharp and totally smooth.

Finally, your straight razor will be stropped on Linen and then Shell Cordovan. All honing is performed with a taped spine to avoid hone wear.
Razors that require extra work due to defects such as chips or severely rounded edges etc, may be liable for extra charges, which will be agreed
before any work by Edge Dynamics is carried out.
Cheap, lower standard razors will not be accepted. Poor quality steel cannot take or hold an edge.
Please forward your razors to Edge Dynamics with the correct insurance as we accept no responsibility for damage or loss during transit. Return postage will be calculated during checkout and is determined by the type of service, insurance you require, and by the country you live in.
Thank you. We will be in touch shortly. |
